Dhenkanal, Jan 13: Forest officials on Monday rescued six pythons from an abandoned reinforced cement concrete spun (hume pipe) in Dhenkanal district . The reptiles were later released in Kumurtanger forest. According to reports, some goat herders of Saptasajya village spotted a large python lying inside the pipe in the fields and informed villagers. Villagers contacted snake helpline members and forest department regarding the same. {"id":24006,"sizeSlug":"large"} Forest officials along with snake helpline members reached the spot and rescued a 18-feet-long python from the pipe during which they spotted more pythons inside it. However, they failed to rescue the other pythons. Later, they broke the pipe with help of a JCB machine and rescued the reptiles safely including one 16-feet-long. Four others were measured between 10 and 12 feet.
