Bhubaneswar sizzles at 43. 2 degree C by 2.30 pm, IMD issues orange warning

The IMD has issued orange warning for severe heat wave in different parts of the state and further predicted that, the day temperature is likely to rise by 4-6°C during next 4 to 5 days at many places over the district of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar, April 24: Bhubaneswar experienced scorching heat on Wednesday, as the mercury crossed 43 degrees Celsius mark. According to the IMD, the capital city recorded the highest temperature of 43.2 degree Celsius by 2.30 pm today.

In addition to Bhubaneswar, other areas also felt the heat, with Jharsuguda recording a maximum temperature of 42.9 degrees Celsius, Chandbali at 42.2 degrees Celsius, and Balasore reaching a maximum temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius by 2:30 pm.

The IMD has issued orange warning for severe heat wave in different parts of the state and further predicted that, the day temperature is likely to rise by 4-6°C during next 4 to 5 days at many places over the district of Odisha.

Most districts of the state are expected to experience a heat wave on the 26th, followed by severe heat wave conditions on the 27th and 28th. Areas including Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Sonpur, Nuapada, Kanjhar, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, and Balasore are likely to face severe heat wave conditions. Some districts may even see temperatures surpassing 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days. 

However, Director of the Meteorological Science Centre, Manorama Mohanty, mentioned that rain may be anticipated on the 30th, though limited to only a few districts.
