Bhubaneswar, April 26: The Bhubaneswar based BJB College is struggling to regain autonomous status for the last three years.
The autonomous status of the college expired on December 31, 2020. But the college administration is mentioning BJB Autonomous College in documents.
The Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) had sought a clarification from the college principal in this regard in October last year. However, the college authorities are taking no significant initiative for restoration of the status.
A senior official of the college said, "We have applied before the University Grants Commission (UGC) for restoration of the autonomous status. The process is in the last stage and it will be regained soon".
Similarly, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Grade of the college has expired since November 2021. Last time the college had got ‘A’ grade from NAAC.
The administration has not submitted self-study report after over two years. The college administration had deposited Rs 2.36 lakh fee for visit of NAAC team. The team was scheduled to visit the college in March 2023. But it did not submit the self-study report following which the scheduled visit of the team got cancelled.
The hard copy has been deposited in January for restoration of autonomous status. The online documentation will be completed within the next two weeks in this regard, informed college administration.
Besides, the self-study report has been prepared and will be submitted in May for visit of NAAC team, the administration said.
