Keonjhar, April 27: Keonjhar police apprehended on Saturday the mastermind of a notorious gang operating in the district. The arrested person has been identified as Dasarathi Dhibara, known for his extensive criminal history not only in Keonjhar but also in four other districts.
During the operation, authorities seized a substantial cache of stolen goods, including 14 gold pendants, silver jewelry, a pistol, and a Bolero vehicle, along with various weapons used in their criminal activities.
The arrest comes in connection with a robbery at Swapneswar filling station near Phuljhari, under Nayakote police limits on October 2023, where six individuals, led by Dasarathi, allegedly looted around four lakh rupees in cash and a laptop. Prompted by a complaint, a specialized police team was formed, leading to the apprehension of five suspects initially. However, Dasarathi managed to evade capture at the time.
