Mumbai, Ap 24: In a significant development, Mumbai Police have recovered arms and ammunition believed to be involved in the shooting incident at the residence of Bollywood icon Salman Khan on April 14, according to official sources on Tuesday.
The recovered arms, including two pistols and four magazines loaded with a total of 17 live rounds, were found in the Tapi river located in Surat, Gujarat, renowned as the 'Diamond City'.
Led by Daya Nayak and other members, a team from the Crime Branch diligently searched the area where the assailants, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, disposed of the weapons into the river, aided by local divers.
Following extensive efforts, the Mumbai Police successfully located the weaponry and ammunition discarded by the shooters as they fled towards the Kachchh district bordering Pakistan.
The apprehension of the two suspects, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, both hailing from Bihar, occurred within 36 hours through a coordinated operation involving Mumbai and Gujarat Police, leveraging technological intelligence and on-ground informants.
On the morning of April 14, the assailants arrived on a motorcycle at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra West, the residence of Salman Khan and his family, where they discharged at least five rounds before making a swift getaway, causing alarm within Bollywood and political circles.
