Bhubaneswar, April 26: Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is very likely to further rise slightly by 2°C at many places over the districts of Odisha during next 48 hours, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
Consequently, maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be above normal by 4 to 6°C over some districts of Odisha during next 4 to 5 days.
The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during peak hours of the day time between 11 am and 3 pm.
Similarly, light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapari, Khordha, Puri and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, it added.
Heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Angul and heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Sambalpur, Jajpur, Balasore, kendrapara, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khordha, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur and Deogarh districts.
Maximum 44.6°C was recorded in Angul by 2.30 pm on Friday with temperature over 40°C at 32 places in the state.
