Bhubaneswar, April 30: The blistering heatwave that has put normal life out of gear for over a fortnight will continue for next 10 days, said weathermen.
"There is no hope of rain during the next 10 days expect Nor’wester (Kalabaisakhi) rain in some pockets across the state. The people of Odisha are going to grapple under severe heatwave conditions for the next three days with further rise in temperature by 2 to 3 degree Celsius," said weather expert Dr Surendranath Pashupalak.

Over 32 places recorded temperature 40°C or more while Baripada sizzled at 44.8°C, above normal by 7.3°C on Monday.
Similarly, the maximum day temperature was recorded 44.1°C in Balasore, 43.6°C in Bhubaneswar, 42.5°C in Jharsuguda, 41.4°C in Keonjhar, 41.2°C in Chandabali and 40.4°C in Rourkela by 11.30 am today.

"Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be above normal by 3 to 6°C over some districts of Odisha during next 4 to 5 days due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation," said Bhubaneswar Met Centre.
The special relief commissioner's (SRC) office on Monday said it has received eight reports of suspected sunstroke deaths from different parts of Odisha and around 257 people were hospitalised due to sunstroke or heat-related illness.
