Bhubaneswar, May 16: Attempts will be made to change the social behavioural attitude of farmers towards traditional patterns of agriculture and efforts will be made to train them on climate-resilient agricultural practices, said a senior official of the Agriculture &Farmers’ Empowerment Department on Thursday.
The farmers of Odisha are still reluctant to adopt diversification of crops. Now, efforts are on to educate them on its benefits and adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices through efficient use of water, the official said.
Odisha has achieved limited success in the adoption of resilient agricultural practices and technologies. The department is planning to involve private organisations to train farmers on climate-resilient agricultural practices.
As Odisha is prone to natural calamities, the adoption of climate-resilient and diversified farming will help them to reduce the impact of disasters on farmers' incomes. The use of better tools and technologies can reduce losses and maximise production.
