Cuttack, April 26: After hearing a writ petition on recruitment of junior teachers in primary schools and upper primary schools on Thursday, the Orissa High Court reserved the verdict for April 29.

The division bench of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh and Justice MS Raman was hearing the petitions filed by Odisha government and some aspirants.

The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) had invited applications to recruit junior teachers in September, 2023 with October 10, 2023 as last date for submitting applications through online mode.

After conducting a CBT examination, the OSEPA published the draft merit list of 18,805 candidates. It also fixed January 20 and 21 for verification of documents. However, some aspirants alleged disparity in preparing the merit list.

One Chintamani Bhuian and three others filed a petition in the Orissa High Court alleging that the OSEPA published the draft merit list without adhering to the guidelines issued by the School and Mass Education department for recruitment of junior teachers in the primary schools.

The Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) to come up with a fresh draft merit list.

The single judge bench of Justice BP Satapathy quashed the draft merit list on March 12. The High Court directed to issue district-wise merit lists. The state government and some others have appealed the court against the order.
