Mumbai, May 4: As the Lok Sabha elections progress in Maharashtra, the third phase sees a significant turnout of 258 candidates competing for victory across 11 constituencies. Scheduled for May 7, this phase will witness voting at 23,036 polling centers, with an anticipated 2,09,92,616 eligible voters exercising their democratic rights.

The constituencies set for polling include Raigad, Baramati, Dharashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and Hatkanangale. Maharashtra's Chief Electoral Officer, S. Chockalingam, assures the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure fair and transparent elections in these regions. Special teams have been deployed to raise awareness and encourage higher voter turnout.
Addressing concerns over delays in releasing voter turnout data for the first two phases, Chockalingam defends the Election Commission of India's actions, attributing the discrepancies to the process of data assessment. He emphasizes that all procedures have been carried out in accordance with established norms.

In the previous phase held on April 26, Maharashtra witnessed a voter turnout of 62.71% across constituencies such as Buldhana, Akola, Amaravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani.
Looking ahead, the fourth phase of elections, slated for May 13, will feature 298 candidates vying for victory in 11 constituencies, including Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi, and Beed. Over 2.2 crore voters are expected to participate.

In the subsequent fifth phase, scheduled for May 20, 173 candidates will contest across 13 constituencies, including Dhule, Dindoshi, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South Central, and Mumbai South.
