New Delhi, May 1: In connection with an edited video speech of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, two leaders from the Samajwadi Party (SP) have been served summons by the Delhi Police.
Lalji Varma, SP's candidate from Ambedkar Nagar, received a notice and underwent initial questioning. Varma expressed his determination to contest the election despite what he perceives as attempts to hinder his nomination process. He highlighted the swift actions of the Delhi Police, filing the case on April 28 and visiting his residence within 24 hours. Varma, undeterred by the situation, vowed to respond to the notice.
The trouble for Varma arose due to his posting of the edited video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on his social media account.
Another SP leader summoned is party spokesman Manoj Kaka, who has been asked to appear before the police on May 2. Kaka cited personal reasons, his father's hospitalization in Varanasi, in his request for more time from the police.
Kaka had also shared the controversial video on his social media platform but stated that he promptly deleted it upon realizing it had been edited.
