Keonjhar, April 26: In another human animal conflict, a young girl was trampled to death by a wild elephant in a forest near Gurutuan village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.
Sources said, the young woman identified as Sombari Munda was on her way to her maternal grandfather’s house. On her way, the girl suddenly encountered a wild elephant. When she tried to flee, the elephant trampled her and killed on the spot.
Getting information, the forest department reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for autopsy.
Worth mentioning, a woman was recently killed by a wild elephant at Ushumandi village under Sundargarh’s Koira forest range. The deceased woman identified as Ituwari Bhadra was trampled to death while she was sleeping in her home. The wild elephant came to her home in search of paddy grains. When Bhadra was running for her life, the elephant chased her and killed on the spot.
In another incident, a person identified as Maheswar Pradhan of Dhukuta village in Odisha’s Angul district was critically injured and undergoing treatment after being attacked by a wild elephant this morning. The incident occurred while Pradhan had gone to attend nature’s call and encountered the elephant. However, he was rescued by locals and shifted to Angul District Headquarter’s Hospital.
