Keonjhar, Oct 28: In a tragic incident, 28 wild boars fell into an abandoned well near Bhagamunda village under Sadar forest range in Keonjhar district. The incident came to light on Monday morning when locals spotted the animals trapped in the well and alerted forest department officials.
A swift rescue operation was launched by the forest department. While 27 wild boars were successfully rescued, one unfortunately succumbed to injuries and died in the well. The rescued animals are being monitored by forest officials.
The incident highlights the dangers posed by abandoned wells to wildlife. It is crucial to take steps to prevent such accidents in the future, such as covering or filling up abandoned wells.
