Morigaon (Assam), Feb 27: A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Morigaon district is Assam in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at around 2:25 am at a depth of 16 kilometers.
Taking to its official ‘X’ handle, NCS said, “EQ of M: 5.0, On: 27/02/2025 02:25:40 IST, Lat: 26.28 N, Long: 92.24 E, Depth: 16 Km, Location: Morigaon, Assam.”

Earlier on Tuesday, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Bay of Bengal with tremors being experienced at several places across Odisha including Puri, Berhampur, Balasore, and Bhubaneswar.
The tremors were also experienced in several parts of West Bengal and neighboring Bangladesh.
