Cuttack, Oct 21: Odisha Police observed the 65th Police Commemoration Day today, honoring the sacrifices of police personnel. DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the line of duty and extended heartfelt condolences to their grieving families.
The observance took place at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack. During the ceremony, DGP Khurania highlighted the Odisha Police's achievements in combating Maoism, emphasizing their commitment to eradicating such activities in the state since March 2016. He called on Maoists to abandon violence and choose a path of peace for the betterment of Odisha and India, reaffirming the police's support for those wishing to reintegrate into society.
This year, tributes were paid to two martyrs: Himanshu Shekhar Rath from Kendrapara district and Pradeep Mallik from the Cuttack Sadar police station.
The event was attended by senior IPS officers along with the Police DG, underscoring the sacrifices made by policemen who protect society, often at the cost of their own family lives. It is vital for the public to recognize this dedication.
