New Delhi: In a significant political development ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results, a senior Congress leader has predicted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to form the government in the national capital, while expressing doubts about the reliability of exit polls.

Speaking to reporters, Dikshit emphasized that Delhi voters appeared more drawn to AAP's welfare promises than developmental agenda. "The public's primary interest centered on promises of free electricity, water, and various cash benefits rather than broader development issues," he noted, adding that exit poll predictions should be viewed with caution.

The Congress leader requested patience until February 8, when the final phase of election results will be declared. He highlighted that the Congress party contested independently, maintaining its distance from AAP throughout the electoral process.

Addressing his party's performance, Dikshit expressed optimism about Congress's electoral prospects, projecting a potential vote share of 17-18 percent. "Our party has conducted a robust campaign, but we need to evaluate whether we've achieved our targeted vote share," he stated. "While we're confident about our campaign effectiveness, the true measure of success lies in voter support translating into actual results."

Meanwhile, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari leveled serious allegations against both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and AAP, accusing them of electoral malpractices. "This election has brought to light concerning practices by both parties," Tiwari declared. "Reports of cash distribution have raised significant questions about the fairness of the electoral process."

Tiwari further distanced himself from exit poll predictions, expressing confidence that the final results would defy current projections. "The public mandate will likely go against both BJP and AAP, with Congress emerging as a strong performer," he asserted.

The Delhi Assembly elections, marked by intense campaigning and heated political debates, have highlighted the growing importance of welfare schemes in urban electoral politics. AAP's focus on continuing its popular free utilities and public services appears to have resonated with voters, according to preliminary assessments.

The election has also sparked discussions about the evolving nature of urban governance, with parties divided between development-focused approaches and welfare-oriented policies. The final results, scheduled for announcement on February 8, are expected to provide crucial insights into Delhi's political landscape and voter preferences.

The election outcome will not only determine Delhi's administrative leadership for the next term but could also significantly influence national political dynamics, particularly in urban governance models across India.
