Bhubaneswar: After Kartik Aryan starred Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3 becoming a runway superhit, many netizens keep comparing Akshay Kumar – the star of the original OG horror films – with that of Indore born Kartik Aryan.
Netizens overwhelming view have been that Akshay Kumar is the real OG, Kartik a pale shadow.
Amid the debate on social media, the buzz doing around has been that the upcoming movie of Akshay Kumar Bhoot Bangla will be the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
It needs reminding here that in 2007, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan teamed up for the horror movie Bhool Bhulaiya, which was released on 1050 screens on Oct 12, 2007. The film had a high IMDb rating of 7.5/10.
The film had a footfall of over 1.17cr and had a worldwide collection of Rs 82cr. Made on a budget of Rs 32 cr, the film’s net India earnings were Rs 68cr. The film was declared a hit.
However, over the years the horror comedy has attained a cult status, and Akki’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa laid the foundation of hit horror franchise Bhol Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3.
As 18 years after Bhool Bhulaiyaa, when both – Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan – are reuniting on another horror comedy titled Bhooth Bangla, the buzz is, as per Pinkvilla, Bhoot Bangla is being shot on the exact same location of Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)
As per reports, Akki-Priyan team is shooting for a marathon schedule at Chomu Palace in Jaipur, where the entire horror plot will unfold. The team is shooting at the same spot after 18 long years.
The reports further add that the Jaipur shooting is scheduled for almost a month and over 60 percent of the film will be shot in the palace.
As per media release of Bhoot Bangla, it will have the perfect mix of horror with humour. The madness will unfold in the palace or the Bangla in the grip of supernatural elements with Akshay Kumar’s character becoming the centre of the horror-comedy frenzy show.
BHOOT BANGLA FOREIGN SHOOT LIKELY
The reports suggest that Bhoot Bangla shooting schedule will be in Jaipur and Mumbai. However, for shooting some sequences in the plot, the makers will shoot the film in London
As per Pinkvilla, The film will be high on VFX, and one of its kinds of fantasy horror-comedy set against the backdrop of Indian Mythology.
BHOOT BANGLA RELEASE DATE
The makers have announced that Bhooth Bangla is all set to hit the big screen in April 2026. The film features Akshay in the lead with Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, and Rajpal Yadav among others.
But the big trivia about Bhoot Bangla is Tabu has reunited with Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after their last teaming up for Hera Pheri in 2000.”
However, in 2025, Akki has films lined up for release. Starting from Sky Force on Jan 25, Shakaran, Jolly LLB 3, Housefull 5 and Welcome To The Jungle to follow.
