Bhubaneswar, May 9: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha has unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 elections.

In a video release, Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik highlighted the party’s vision for the state.

The BJD government aims to build upon the transformational changes it has brought to Odisha during its 24-year tenure.

Despite facing natural disasters, Odisha has emerged as a fast-developing state, rooted in its glorious culture and traditions.

The manifesto lays the foundation for a golden era in Odisha.

In the manifesto, the party has promised to provide free electricity.

The state government will bear electricity dues of 90% of people.

There will be zero tariff for all customers consuming  below 100 units of electricity and rebate of 50 units for persons consuming 100-150 units.

Nearly 90% people in the state and most people residing in rural areas will be benefited by this.

The party envisions making Odisha the number one state in the country within the next 10 years.

Recognizing the pivotal role of youth in the state’s development, the manifesto focuses on their future.

The BJD promises to introduce a separate budget called the “Yuva Budget” exclusively for the youth. This will be the first such budget in any Indian state.

Under the Yuva Budget, the government plans to spend around ₹1 lakh crore over the next decade.

The manifesto pledges an annual Nua O scholarship of ₹14,000 for girls and ₹12,000 for boys.

Additionally, the BJD aims to create approximately 2 lakh government jobs.

The CM said that a special budget will be presented for youths in Odisha and this budget is pegged at Rs 1 lakh crore for 10 years.

The BJD’s manifesto reflects its commitment to progress, youth empowerment, and inclusive development.
