Jharsuguda, Dec 9: Breaches in the IB Thermal’s ash pond at Odisha’s Jharsuguda district has wreaked panic among the farmer. The lowlands under the ash pond are feared to be inundated by slurry water.
Sources said a large break was seen in the embankment of the Ash Pond No. 3 of the OPGCL-managed IB Thermal in the wee hours. Sludge with slurry was seen overflowing from the breaches into the paddy lands of Saradhapali and Kantatikra villages under the Banharpal Block limit.
Being informed, the power plant authorities rushed to the spot and repaired the breaches.
