Sundergarh, Dec 28: A half-burnt body of a young man, along with a charred scooty, was found near a paddy straw heap close to Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sargipalli under Lefripada police station limits in Sundargarh district on Friday.
The shocking discovery was made by locals, who immediately informed the police. The identity of the deceased remains unknown as the body was severely burnt.
Being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and the burnt vehicle, and started an investigation.
The body was sent to the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary observations have led police to suspect that the incident could be a case of murder, though the exact circumstances leading to the youth’s death are still unclear.
Authorities are interrogating local residents to gather leads that could assist in identifying the victim and uncovering the sequence of events. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
