Angul, June 29: Panic grips Tikarapada area in Odisha’s Angul district, after an eight year old boy was dragged and killed by a crocodile on Saturday .
The deceased has been identified as Sameer Nayak of Tikarapada area in the district.
According to the information, the minor boy was bathing in the Mahanadi River, when a crocodile appeared immidiately and dragged him underwater.
Being informed by the locals, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation for the child. After a frantic search, the body was fished out.
Expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of six lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund for the family of the deceased.
