Bhubaneswar, June 24: With the situation in Balasore town gradually returning to normal, curfew in the northern Odisha town has been further relaxed, Balasor Collector Ashish Thakare said on Monday.
According to an order, curfew has been partially lifted from 5am to 9pm in Sahadevkhunta Police limits. Similarly, curfew will be relaxed from 5 am to 5 pm in areas falling under Balasore Town police station on Tuesday.
All schools, anganwadi centres, and colleges will remain open on Tuesday. Commercial establishments have been allowed to operate during the relaxed curfew periods, the order added.
The curfew was initially imposed on June 17 following a violent clash between two groups over animal slaughter in Patrapada during a religious celebration. With no fresh violanece has been reported for few days, the collector stated that 12 cases have been registered on complaints from both sides, and at least 65 people have been arrested for violating curfew norms.
