Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: With the IMD’s forecasts on the probable ‘Cyclone Dana’, the Odisha Special Relief Commission (SRC), has readied a 24x7 War Room to deal with unforeseen exigencies.
The SRC War Room established in the state headquarters at Bhubaneswar will be a nodal center to communicate and cater to the needs of the people in the affected areas. It will mobilize essential logistics and aid to the vulnerable spots at need well aligned with the respective district headquarters.
As the Cyclone Dana is almost looming over Odisha, the state Revenue Department is also bracing up to face and manage the probable challenges due to the unseasonal rainfall, high wind and heavy tidal waves, anticipated to be triggered by the cyclonic wind on October 23 and 24.
The SRC in line with the concered deparments has mobilized essential manpower and logistics to the susceptible areas in the coastal districts including Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur whereas ODRAF and NDRF congingents have been asked to get ready for tackling with all sorts of adverse situations due to heavy rain or gusting wind.
Meanwhile, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Deo Ranjan Singh informed that all the district Collectors have been directed to identify people residing in vulnerable pockets of the State and shift them to nearby cyclone shelters prettily before the LoPAR intensifies into a Cyclone system.
Addressing the media persons during a review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja ahead of the possible cyclone Dana, Singh said, “The district Collectors have been asked to ready the cyclone shelters under their disposals with ensuring provisions of basic amenities.Similarly, the state health department and the district health administrations have also been asked to stay prepared with essential logistics including emergency drugs, vaccines and paramedical crews for the upcoming disaster.
