Kandhamal, Dec 20: Daringbadi, which is known as the Kashmir of Odisha, experienced its first snowfall of this winter season on Wednesday even as the temperature dropped across the State, giving tourists a feel of snowcapped peaks of Kashmir.
Small drops of snow were found on hay stacks, paddy fields, and house roofs. The tourists and locals were more than happy to witness the snowfall. The bone-chilling weather remained until 11 am.
Daringbadi recorded a temperature of 8.5 degree Celsius early Wednesday morning. People preferred to stay indoors due to spine-chilling winter.
Wednesday offered tourists a view that they had been waiting for. There was a layer of snow seen covering the paddy fields, farmlands, meadows, roofs and trees in Daringbadi and nearby areas. Tourists were seen capturing the scene in their cameras and mobile phones. Youngsters were seen clicking selfies with such views forming the backdrop.
While the locals are finding it difficult to step out of their houses, tourists are thronging to various places in the area to witness the snowfall.
