Bhubaneswar, July 24: The DigiYatra initiative which uses facial recognition technology to make terminal entry and security clearance was officially launched at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar today.
This initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) in collaboration with the DigiYatra Foundation, aims to revolutionize the airport experience by using facial recognition technology.
According to a statement from BPIA, the DigiYatra initiative enables seamless, hassle-free, and paperless terminal entry and security clearance.
This technological advancement represents a significant step towards creating a digitally empowered society, allowing for the automatic digital processing of passengers. Benefits include reduced wait times and a faster, more efficient boarding process, it added.
The initiative enhances passenger movement to boarding gates, improves security, and ensures a contactless travel experience.
The DigiYatra facility has been installed at all eight boarding gates and four departure gates at BPIA.
