Puri, Jan 5: Raising serious security concerns, a drone was seen hovering over Puri Jagannath Temple’s ‘no flying zone’ in the early hours of Sunday.
Around 4:10 a.m., the drone was spotted coming from the Dolamandap Sahi area. It circled the temple grounds, hovered over key areas like the Temple’s Dadhinauti and the Neelachakra, and flew over the northern gate before returning to where it came from.
Authorities are still trying to figure out who was operating the drone and how it entered the temple’s restricted airspace. Puri Police are investigating the incident.
We are following leads, and legal action will be taken soon, assured the Puri Superintendent of Police.
This security breach has raised concerns as it comes just days before the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, a major event set to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10. Security has already been increased across tourist spots like Puri and key areas in Odisha. A special tactical unit, equipped with advanced gear, has arrived in Bhubaneswar to oversee safety at strategic locations.
The state’s vigilance has also been heightened following a recent threat by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to disrupt the event. Authorities are on high alert to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all visitors.
