New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) initiated a new outreach program called 'Bachat Patra' (Savings Register) in Delhi today, with National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal leading the campaign to showcase the financial impact of his government's welfare initiatives on Delhi households.
During a press conference announcing the campaign, Kejriwal revealed that Delhi families save approximately Rs 25,000 monthly through various AAP government welfare schemes. He further promised additional savings of Rs 10,000 if the party returns to power, bringing potential total monthly savings to Rs 35,000 per household.
The door-to-door campaign will involve AAP volunteers engaging directly with families to document their savings from government schemes in the 'Bachat Patra'. "Our workers will visit homes across Delhi to help families calculate their benefits from AAP's welfare programs," Kejriwal explained.
The party's manifesto includes new initiatives such as free bus travel for students, Mahila Samman Yojana, and Sanjeevani Yojana, which Kejriwal says will contribute to the additional promised savings of Rs 10,000.

Drawing a sharp contrast with the BJP ahead of the Union Budget on February 1, Kejriwal criticized the opposition's approach to public welfare. "While typical budgets bring inflation and strain household finances, our Delhi government ensures savings for every family," he stated. He alleged that the BJP has publicly declared its intention to discontinue these benefits if it comes to power.
Kejriwal also addressed recent accusations regarding the city's water crisis, claiming victory in resolving the ammonia concentration issue in Delhi's water supply. He detailed how ammonia levels were reduced from 7 PPM to 2.1 PPM following public pressure and government intervention. "This was an attempt to defame us, but our struggle ensured that one crore Delhi residents continued to receive water," he asserted.
The AAP leader accused the BJP of favoring corporate interests over public welfare, citing the Dharavi redevelopment project in Mumbai as an example. "While we direct our budget toward people's welfare, the BJP channels it to benefit their business associates. Their agenda in Delhi is focused on land acquisition rather than public service," Kejriwal claimed.
Through the 'Bachat Patra' campaign, AAP aims to quantify and demonstrate the tangible benefits of its governance model to Delhi residents, while simultaneously highlighting what it claims are the risks of alternative administrative approaches. The campaign serves both as a report card of the party's achievements and a promise of enhanced benefits in the future, provided voters continue to support the party's symbol, the 'jhadhu' (broom), at the polls.
The campaign launch comes at a crucial time as Delhi prepares for upcoming elections, with AAP seeking to reinforce its connection with voters through direct engagement and quantifiable benefits of its welfare programs.
