Bhubaneswar, January 2: The Odisha government on Thursday hiked the freedom fighter’s pension.
This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi during the 38th Independence Fighters’ Day celebration.
The state government has almost doubled the pension of the warriors as a honor towards their valiant sacrifice.
The freedom fighters who were imprisoned during the independence movement will now receive Rs 20,000 per month.
Warriors who were not imprisoned but contributed to the war of independence will get pensions worth Rs 15,000 per month instead of Rs 9,000.
For individuals receiving the national pension, they will get Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 8,000.
Similarly, the detainees under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency period are now eligible for Rs 20,000 pension.
