Bhubaneswar, Aug 23: The Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha over the next 5-7 days due to a series of cyclonic circulations affecting the region.
A Yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain in these areas. The intensity of the rainfall is expected to increase starting tomorrow.
Currently, a low-pressure area persists over north Bangladesh and its surrounding regions, and it is likely to move westwards across West Bengal in the next 48 hours. Additionally, another cyclonic circulation is predicted to form over the North Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood around August 24, which could further influence the weather patterns in Odisha.
Residents in the affected districts are advised to take necessary precautions as the state prepares for the potential impact of the heavy rains.
