Bhubaneswar, January 9: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday has taken high profile fraudsters Hansita Abhilipsa and her fiancé Anil Mohanty on a two- day remand.
During the remand the sleuths of the Odisha Crime Branch will try exhume the modus operandi of the conwoman , reach out all of her accomplices and wrap off the entire network of her crimes, said police.
The prime modus operandi of Hansita and Anil was to digitally manipulate photographs with high-ranking officials and approach moneyed people including mines owner, contractors and builders for tender fixing and allotting high-valued projects. With this trick, they used to dupe of Crores of rupees from the victims, hailing from Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
Acting on a complaint, the police had arrested the fraudsters and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, sleuths of the Income Tax (IT) Department conducted extensive raids on the properties of Hansita and Anil Mohanty to scan illegal financial transactions of the duo.
During the multiple raids in several locations including Bhubaneswar, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Jharkhand, and New Delhi, the IT sleuths picked Hansita’s real-life partner, identified as Saroj Sahu from Bhubaneswar to rule out his involvement in the fraudulent deals.
