Jagatsinghpur, February 27: While the IIC, Kujang Police in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur landed in soup on the charges of illicit relationship with a woman home guard attached to the same police station, the victim levelled a new allegation against the police officer on Thursday.
She raised a complaint afresh citing that the accused IIC who is lodged in jail, is attempting to influence her through some brokers. A constable, deployed by accused IIC Tapan Nahak is approaching her to be lenient for the IIC, turn hostile and withdraw the case.
She also alleged that her family members are threatened by some miscreants of dire consequence if she continues with the case against IIC Nahak.
“I am offered a sizeable lumpsum worth upto Rs 25-27 lakh to turn me hostile and withdraw the case filed against the Kujang IIC”, said the victim home guard in her complaint.
Worth mentioning, Tapan Nahaka, Inspector in charge of Kujanga police station was suspended on Wednesday after being accused of exploiting the female home guard.
According to officials, the inspector allegedly entered into a physical relationship with the woman, promising to marry her, but later refused to fulfill that promise.
The inspector, who was later revealed to be married, was detained after the female home guard lodged a complaint before the SP on Monday.
On this basis, Odisha's Director General of Police (DGP), YB Khurania, put the IIC under suspension who was later remanded to judicial custody on the charge of ‘Gross misconduct and abuse of official position on Tuesday.
