Cyclone Dana Live Updates: Depression forms in BoB, lies 730 km southeast of Paradip

Cyclone Dana within 24 hours! IMD’s latest bulletin announced formation of Depression in Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. It is now stationed at 730km from Paradip. The system is current tracking west-northwest. The current track indicates the system likely moving closer to north Odisha coasts by Oct 23 evening.

Satellite images show clear sky over Odisha. But convective and broken clouds clouding the north east, and up to the south east Bay of Bengal, is being observed. IMD data shows no birth pangs for Cyclone Dana. The Bay of Bengal is brimming with hotter sea surface temperature to give birth to Cyclone Dana on Oct 23. IMD has issued Cyclone Alert to the coastal states like Odisha and West Bengal. Odisha government is in action mode. Slew of actions initiated.

    Cyclone Dana live updates: 800 relief shelters ready in Odisha

    800 relief shelters have been established for people who will be evacuated from vulnerable areas as Cyclone Dana hits the coast of Odisha on October 24. Odisha revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari told news agency PTI on Tuesday that officials have inspected 250 cyclone relief centres where people will be housed after evacuation to make sure essentials such as food, water, medicine and electricity are available.

    Apart from 800 cyclone shelters, the minister said an additional 500 temporary shelters have been made ready, including schools and colleges.

    Cyclone Dana Updates: CM Majhi sets ‘Zero casualty’ target for cyclone

    Chief minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, has set a “zero casualty” target ahead of Cyclone Dana which will hit the coast on October 24. CM Majhi directed officials to ensure 100 per cent evacuation of people from areas likely to be affected by the cyclone. He also directed the officials to stock food, drinking water and medicines in cyclone shelters in adequate quantity.     Cyclone Dana latest track forecast: How IMD predicts the path and landfall place?

    Cyclone Dana will be taking birth anytime within next 24 hours. The depression system is moving northwest with a surface wind speed of around 50kmph. The minimum sea level pressure is measured at 1000hPa (Hecta Pascal). The sea level pressure shows the system’s intensification is slow. A glance at the satellite image shows broken, fragmented clouds around the low level cyclonic centre (LLCC).  The LLCC is clearly stands exposed now. However, the process of formative banding of clouds has begun. The cloud top temperature has fallen to minus 100 deg C today.     Health services prepared, says Odisha state health director

    Odisha Director of Health Services Bijay told ANI, "We are prepared... Every year we are anticipating cyclones and we are facing those cyclones. we have a definite protocol for preparation of management."

    "At the facility level, where all service providers will be available, no leave will be allowed. we are ensuring the logistics of the drug and consumable supply, specifically the anti-venom snake drug.
