Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: Odisha is set to host two-day business summit, the Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha conclave, beginning on January 28. The event will bring together 7,500 delegates from around the world, including some of the most influential names in the global business and industrial sectors.
Captains of industry such as Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Anil Agarwal, Sajjan Jindal, Naveen Jindal, and Karan Adani, among many others, are confirmed to attend the summit, which aims to showcase the state's rapid economic transformation.
Odisha's Industries Minister, Sampad Chandra Swain said the state is eagerly preparing to welcome delegates from 20 countries.
As of now, representatives from 16 countries have confirmed their participation, with four more expected to join. Countries such as Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Venezuela, the UK, the US, and Nepal will be represented, reflecting the international appeal and importance of the event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit, accompanied by key union ministers, including Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, and Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Minister Swain emphasized that the conclave will encapsulate the state's transformative journey, highlighting its economic growth and development initiatives.
Rs 5 lakh crore investment target
Swain further revealed that the Odisha government is targeting Rs 5 lakh crore in investment proposals during the summit, with the aim of ensuring these projects are grounded and contribute to the state's economic development. In just the first seven months of its tenure, the current BJP-led government has already approved 159 investment proposals worth Rs 2.75 lakh crore, which are expected to generate employment for over 2.15 lakh people.
100 international delegates and diplomats to participate
In addition to the prominent industry leaders attending, more than 100 international delegates and diplomats from countries such as Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia will also be participating, with these nations serving as partner countries for the event.
Thematic sessions
The summit will feature several thematic sessions, including Start-Up Odisha, Skilled in Odisha, and Women Entrepreneurship, all of which will be facilitated by Subhadra, a women empowerment program designed to promote leadership among women in the business world.
The summit will also offer valuable platforms for networking and collaboration, with CEO Roundtables and Women Leadership Roundtables planned as part of the event. These discussions aim to foster meaningful partnerships and promote the exchange of ideas between leaders from various industries, ensuring that the conclave is not only a celebration of Odisha’s progress but also a key moment for building future business opportunities.
