Sundargarh, Jan 19: In a gruesome incident, assailants allegedly killed a man by chopping off his hands and slitting his throat in Badagada area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Dambaru Swain and the incident has been reported from Raibandha village under Badagada police limits in the district. The victim’s body was found dismembered and floating in a pond earlier today.
According to the victim’s family members, Dambaru, who had recently returned from Surat for his daughter's wedding, went out to attend nature’s call last night and didn’t return. However, some villagers found his mutilated body floating in a nearby pond today morning and alerted his family members and the police.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and fished out the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
On the other hand, family members of the deceased have alleged that he had an ongoing dispute with Baina Swain, a resident of the same village, and suspect that he might have murdered him.
They also claimed that Dambaru had received multiple threats over the phone prior to his death.
