The Mahakumbh 2025 on Monday had an impressive turnout, as nearly 60 lakh people have taken the sacred dip, or 'snan,' in Sangam. UP Police have confirmed that security and traffic arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth experience for the massive crowds attending Mahakumbh 2025.
Drone camera footage revealed tens of thousands devotees, thronging the ghats of the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, at the world's largest human gathering. This year's Mahakumbh holds special significance due to a rare celestial alignment that occurs only once every 144 years.
The first major Shahi or Amrit Snan, a royal bathing ritual, is scheduled for Tuesday, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. Celebrated every 12 years, the Mahakumbh is expected to draw over 45 crore devotees before it concludes on February 26th.
UPs Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, emphasized the deployment of advanced technologies, such as drones and CCTV cameras, to enhance security and streamline operations throughout the Mahakumbh 2025. He highlighted the expanded ghats and a well planned crowd management system, a commitment to providing a secure and spiritually enriching experience for all who will attend Mahakumbh 2025.
While initial estimates suggest that nearly 60 lakh people have already participated in the holy dip, official figures will be released soon. DGP Kumar described this year's Kumbh will be a blend of faith and modernity, where traditional policing methods are complemented by cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and well-being of the devotees.
Security personnel remain vigilant, patrolling the area by boat and horseback to maintain law & order and protect the devotees of this historic religious gathering. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Uttar Pradesh Police water wing have also been strategically deployed and positioned to further safeguard the devotees.
