Keonjhar, Dec 29: A prisoner serving a life imprisonment on the charge of murder escaped from the Keonjhar District Jail in Odisha on Sunday.
With a failed search bid, the jail authorities lodged a complaint with the Keonjhar Town Police in this connection.
The inmate has been identified as Paresh Munda, who was lodged behind bars from 2014 for a brutal killing.
Sources said he was reportedly engaged in gardening work relying on his manner. However, he disappeared under mysterious conditions on Saturday all of a sudden despite the security shield.
On being aware of it, the jail authorities initiated a search but in vain.
On the basis of the complaint, the police have beefed up blocking & checking across the district to nab Munda.
