Nagpur, Dec 14: Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole on Saturday dismissed rumors of his resignation, asserting that responsibility for the party's defeats lies with everyone collectively.

He clarified, “I have not submitted any resignation. My tenure is for three years, but I have been in this role for four. This is an internal matter for our party, and everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute. I have never claimed credit for our victories, and similarly, when the party faces defeat, we all share that responsibility.”

Earlier, reports surfaced suggesting that Patole had written to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, requesting to be relieved of his duties. In response, Maharashtra's Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, expressed that he was unaware of any resignation plans. He further emphasized that both the party’s successes and setbacks are attributed to the senior leadership.

Wadettiwar speculated that the party’s recent electoral losses could have influenced Patole’s decision. However, he clarified that the final decision on such matters lies with the Congress’s top leadership in Delhi.

Despite the overall party setbacks, Patole managed to retain his Sakoli assembly seat in Bhandara district, although his victory was secured by a narrow margin of just 208 votes in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
