Cuttack, Oct 27: Tangi Police station IIC has been suspended following allegations of custodial abuse.

According to reports, a resident of Nandua village in the Salagaon panchayat, Krupasindhu Pradhan, was reportedly detained at the Tangi police station for two days, where he fell ill due to alleged physical abuse.

The incident came to light after a complaint was lodged by the family of the victim, who claimed that during his detention at the station, Krupasindhu Pradhan was subjected to severe physical abuse. His condition worsened, and he was initially admitted to the Tangi healthcare center for primary treatment. Later, he was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

The family raised concerns about the alleged abuse, leading to a swift investigation. Following which, Odisha Police took immediate action and suspended the IIC, Shibprasad Bhadran.

The State Police Directorate has assured that further action will be taken after the completion of the investigation into the matter.
