Bhubaneswar, December 30: Naveen Patnaik, Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister of Odisha, held a review of the crop loss situation in Ganjam district on Monday, following the damage caused by unseasonal rains. Patnaik visited several affected areas, including Seragada, Hinjili, Aska, and Kabisuryanagar blocks.

During his visit, Patnaik first toured the Seragada block, which falls under his assembly constituency, before heading to Aska, Kabisuryanagar, and Khallikote. He interacted with farmers whose crops had been severely impacted by the unexpected rainfall and took a firsthand look at the damaged fields.

The former Chief Minister also engaged with local officials, assessing the extent of the damage and discussing the situation in detail. After reviewing the impact, Patnaik expressed concern over the severity of the crop loss. He emphasized the urgent need for compensation, stating, "I have seen the crop damage, and it is quite severe. Farmers must receive compensation immediately, as was done during my tenure. All those affected should be given prompt assistance."

Yesterday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited three districts impacted by the rains. Majhi met with the families of affected farmers, visited damaged paddy fields, and assured them that necessary support would be provided to all those affected.
