Odia actor-filmmaker Chittaranjan Tripathy appointed as director of NSD

Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Renowned Odia actor-filmmaker Chittaranjan Tripathy has been appointed as the director of National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi.

As per reports, a formal announcement in this regard will be made today.

Hailing from Chandbali of Bhadrak district, Tripathy became the first person from Odisha to hold the prestigious position.

He completed diploma in acting from NSD in 1996. Popular Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was his batch-mate.

Tripathy made his directorial as well as acting debut with Odia film ‘Dhauli Express’ in 2007 which received three Odisha State Film Awards. Besides direction and acting, he was also the script writer, music director, lyricist, playback singer and producer of the film.

He gained immense popularity after playing ‘Trivedi’ character in Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi and Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Sacred Games’ web-series on Netflix.
