Bhubaneswar, January 16: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced that the Baikuntha Dham Ashram, located in the Khandagiri area of capital city, will be demolished on January 17.
Residents in the area were informed about the eviction order through loudspeakers. The ashram is being demolished due to allegations that it was built on government land. The BDA has given a deadline for occupants to vacate by noon tomorrow (January 17), after which demolition work will be initiated.
Earlier this month, the Orissa High Court lifted the interim stay on the eviction, as the ashram authorities failed to provide the necessary documents to justify the construction.
The ashram had also gained attention recently for controversial events, including an incident where a child was reportedly worshipped as the ‘Kalki’ avatar of Lord Vishnu.
