Bhubaneswar, January 23: On the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi praised the extraordinary courage of Netaji, describing him as a symbol of unwavering determination.
Since 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been commemorating Netaji's birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas, a tribute to his legacy.
The Chief Minister recognized that this day provides a special opportunity to honor the brave son of Odisha in his hometown of Cuttack.
Chief Minister highlighted his heroic contributions to India's struggle for independence.
Acknowledging Netaji's immense role in India's fight for freedom, the Chief Minister noted that historians and even British rulers have acknowledged how his efforts delayed British rule in India. As a mark of respect, Ross Island has been renamed to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that Netaji's birthplace, Odia Bazaar in Cuttack, stands as a reminder of his enduring legacy. It was here that he spent his childhood and excelled as a student at Ravenshaw Collegiate School. Majhi emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation about Netaji’s life and his connection to Cuttack, ensuring his legacy lives on for future generations.
