Cuttack, June 27: Odisha senior men's team player Sumit Sharma, who was banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for two years from playing domestic tournaments, has got a reprieve.

The BCCI has revoked the ban imposed on Sumit, informed Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Sanjay Behera on Thursday.

It can be recalled that Sumit was banned for two years in January this year for alleged age fraud. He was with Odisha team in Gujarat, when the ban was imposed. The BCCI ban order came just before the Baroda-Odisha Ranji match at the Moti Bagh Stadium in Vadodara.

However, with the ban being revoked now, it remains to be seen if Sumit can earn back his spot in the senior Odisha men's team again.
