Puri, Dec 16: The Odisha government has extended the responsibilities of the Swatantra Shree Mandira Surakhuya Vahini, a dedicated task force, to oversee the safety and security of all major pilgrimage sites in Puri.
Initially tasked with protecting the Jagannath Temple, the Vahini will now safeguard other prominent temples in Puri, which attract millions of devotees annually.
This decision is aimed at strengthening security measures to provide a safe and peaceful experience for pilgrims visiting these sacred sites.
The expanded role includes collaboration with local authorities, temple management, and other security agencies to address potential risks and emergencies.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance security for religious tourists and preserve Puri's sanctity as a major spiritual hub.
