Bhubaneswar, June 27: Raghunathpalli police in Odisha on Thursday detained one person practicing medicine by posing as a doctor in Rourkela Government Hospital.
The accused fake doctor has been identified as Padmanabhan Mukhi.
As per reports, Padmanabhan, who is Plus II pass, was previously arrested by the police in 2019 on similar charges. He used his fake certificate to attend to patients in the Nua Gaon block. After receiving numerous complaints, the police arrested him and presented him in court. He was subsequently imprisoned.
After his release from jail, Mukhi resumed working as a doctor at Rourkela Government Hospital by presenting forged documents claiming to be a doctor named Ramesh Chandra Jha from Jharkhand, according to sources.
The matter came to light when Mukhi applied for a loan from a private company.
After learning about it, Raghunathpali police detained him and interrogated.
Mukhi was recruited through an outsourcing company. A show-cause notice has been issued to the outsourcing agency, asking them to clarify why they did not verify his documents during the appointment process, said Superintendent of Rourkela Government Hospital Dr Ganesh Prasad Das.
