Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC concluded their debut Asian Women’s Champions League campaign with a 0-4 loss against Taichung Blue Whale of Chinese Taipei at the Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.
In the first half, Taichung Blue Whale dominated possession but struggled to create scoring opportunities due to the tight marking by the Odisha FC defenders. However, they finally broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Chen Jin-wen found space in the penalty box and capitalised on the chance to give her team the lead, scoring two before half-time.
In the second half, Taichung showed their strength with resolute passing, scoring two more goals from accurate crosses, sealing the game beyond doubt.
Despite the defeat, Odisha FC ended their AFC Women’s Champions League campaign with a great learning experience and will return home to prepare for the Indian Women’s League 2024-25.
