Bhubaneswar, January 14: The Odisha government is set to add milk with the Mid Day Meal (MDM) menu, provided to the school students.
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister, Gokulananda Mallik informed it on Tuesday.
According to the decision, each student will be provided 200 ml of milk fortified with Vitamins A and D in their daily MDM menu.
Underlining the pilot initiative 'Gift Milk', launched by the President of India on Monday, Mallik said that milk will add to the nutritional need of the teens, which in the long run increase physical and mental potentials of the students.
With the innovative venture, the government currently provides vitamin fortified milk to as many as 1,184 students across 29 schools which will be extended to all the educational institutions, the minister added.
