Rayagada, Jan 15: The Odisha High Court has commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment for an individual convicted in a triple murder case.
The incident, which took place on September 9, 2016, in the Kintu village area of Rayagada district, involved the brutal killing of a father, mother, and their elder daughter by a family member.
The accused had allegedly murdered the victims after a dispute, striking them repeatedly with a weapon. After killing the trio, the convicts buried the bodies before exhuming them later and setting them on fire to eliminate evidence.
The High Court, while reviewing the case, ordered the district legal services authority to provide compensation of Rs30 lakh to the victims' family as part of the verdict.
