Dhenkanal, Jan 19: Sadar police in Odisha’s Dhenkanal on Saturday arrested a man on charges of raping a woman after tying her hands and legs.
The accused has been identified as Hrushikesh Sahu (47), who worked as a mason in a nearby sawmill.
As per reports, the victim, who works as a teacher at a private school, was alone in her rented house near Gengutia Railway over-bridge when the accused entered her house at around 8:00 pm on Friday. Thereafter, he tied her hands and legs and raped her at knife point. The accused also gagged her face with a cloth when she screamed for help.
Later, the victim lodged a complaint at Sadar police station following which the cops swung into action.
Police registered a case and arrested the accused while he was roaming on the outskirts of the city by tracing his mobile phone. The knife used in the crime has also been seized.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
