Odisha’s Keonjhar Cancer Hospital to Open in April 2025

Keonjhar, Mar 26: The long-awaited cancer hospital in Odisha's Keonjhar district is slated to open in April 2025. Designed with a focus on state-of-the-art chemotherapy, the hospital was approved by the Atomic Energy Research Board and then officially sanctioned by the Odisha government.

The project, led by experts from the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer and the Keonjhar district administration, will be established within the Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital with funding of Rs 38 crore from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). The Tata Memorial Hospital team from Mumbai created the hospital's design.

It was earlier scheduled to open in December 2023, but due to delay in construction, it pushed back the hospital's opening date and later in October 2024, it was again further delayed due to some reason and was pushed the launch to April 2025. Once operational, the hospital is expected to improve cancer care in the region significantly.
